What to expect

How an evaluation actually unfolds

Testing is unfamiliar to most people, and uncertainty is its own kind of stress. Here is the entire process, start to finish, so you know what you are agreeing to before you agree to it.

  1. 01

    A complimentary consultation

    15 minutes, by phone

You describe what you are noticing and what you hope to understand. You hear which evaluation actually answers the question, what it costs, and how long it takes. Nothing is scheduled until you decide.

ThenYou receive an email with the recommended evaluation, the fee, and available dates.

  2. 02

    Clinical interview

    60 to 90 minutes, virtual

A careful history: development, school and work, health, sleep, mood, attention, and the daily situations where things break down. Questionnaires are sent in advance, and a partner, parent, or colleague may be asked to complete an observer form.

ThenYour testing day is confirmed, along with a short list of what to have ready.

  3. 03

    Testing day

Three to six hours, with breaks

Standardized measures of attention, memory, processing speed, language, visual reasoning, and executive function, along with mood measures where relevant. Most people find it more interesting than difficult. Have your glasses, any medication you normally take, and a snack nearby.

ThenYou are told, before you log off, the week your feedback session will be held.

  4. 04

    Scoring and interpretation

    Typically two to three weeks

Your scores are compared against normative data, integrated with your history, and read as a pattern rather than a list of numbers. This is the quiet part of the work, and it is where the value is.

ThenYour feedback appointment is scheduled and confirmed by email.

  5. 05

    Feedback session

    60 minutes, virtual

We sit with the findings together. You learn what the results mean, what they do not mean, which diagnoses are and are not supported, and what to do next. Questions are welcome; nothing is delivered as a verdict.

ThenYou leave with a plain-language summary of the findings and the recommended next actions.

  6. 06

    Your written report

    Delivered after feedback

A clear, specific report with diagnostic conclusions and practical recommendations — written to be usable by your physician, prescriber, therapist, university disability office, or employer for accommodations.

ThenThe report is sent securely, along with a superbill and any records release you request.

The virtual process

Tested at home, not in a clinic

Everything happens over secure video. A short technology check is held before your testing day so nothing has to be solved in the moment.

Where
Your own home
Sessions are held over a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. No travel, no waiting room, no parking garage.
What you need
A laptop and a quiet room
A computer with a working camera, a stable connection, and a door that closes. A phone is fine as a backup line.
How testing works
Shared screen, guided
Measures validated for telehealth administration are presented on screen and guided in real time. Nothing is left to self-administration.
Where it is offered
40+ PSYPACT states
Care is provided across participating PSYPACT states. Your eligibility is confirmed during the consultation.

Insurance and payment

No surprises about cost

Full fees are published on the fees page, and your written Good Faith Estimate arrives before anything begins.

Is insurance accepted?
No. This is a private-pay practice, which is why evaluations are scheduled in weeks rather than months and no diagnosis is reported to an insurer.
Can I use my benefits?
Often, partially. An itemized superbill is provided after payment so you can seek out-of-network reimbursement from your plan.
When do I pay?
A deposit reserves your evaluation dates; the balance is due before the feedback session. Payment plans are available on request.
Will I know the cost first?
Always. A written Good Faith Estimate is provided before any work begins, and the fee does not change afterward.
